Tough times...tough decisions

Pete in MI

New member
Some job I got...work about 6 hours in the last 7 days  No schedule for this week or next.

With winter coming on I have to look to cutting costs and finding options. Also, frustrated with this computer....crashed again just after I reinstalled most of the programs I have been using. Argh.

Though I would like things to be different I have decided to sell both of my detectors...the Minelab Explorer II with all the extras and the Tesoro Stingray water detector. I still have to figure out what I will sell each for and get some pics of all the extras.

Maybe I will be able to use some of the money for a 'working' laptop. Sherry's business is picking up but so far we are not realizing much of a profit - certainly not enough to be able to hire me full time to work with her and get the bills paid.

Love the detectors especially the Explorer but I have to member that they are just 'things'. They come, they go.

Casey is pregnant...after all...we can tell by her morning sickness and she did check with the doctor so Apr 9 is a due date next year for her. She will be attending night adult ed classes to get her diploma. Her college plans to be a culinary chef are now on the back burner.

Oh well. Will be working up a listing for the detectors and posting them sometime soon.

Hope all are well and getting out to detect. Blessing to all.

Pete

Let me know before you list them, I know a couple guys looking.
Will pray about all mentioned!

Thanks Mike - will let you know

Just off the top of my head there is the Exp II with the X-1 probe, 4 coils (10 inch standard, Sunray X-8 8 inch, 5 inch and the Platypus coil), coil cover on the 8 inch and the Platypus, don't remember if the 10 inch had one on it - think so  , the dust cover for the screen, the book and mini pocket guide, a nylon (non-Minelab) bag, the AA battery pack and 2 rechargeable packs with the house charger and the car charger, a couple DVDs on the Explorer, and some other things. Like I say have to get some pics and list of what all there is. Will let you know by email first before posting anywhere else.

The Tesoro Stingray I got from Al about a year and a half ago. Used only a couple times.

Will let ya know.

Selling your detectors will be like putting a band-aid on your finger when you have had your finger chopped off, a temporary measure at best that will stop the flow for a minute and thats all.
One good thing Pete is that you have extra time to look for another job. Don't trust an employer like that to work with you, they are people users and abusers? by not providing steady work for their employees. They look for someone who they can work into the dirt and discard.
Wal-mart treats their employees better than that, I worked for them for awhile and they are ok to work for, they work you hard BUT they have you on a regular schedule, regular days off and steady pay. They seem to have stores everywhere and maybe you could check them out.
Use your time off looking for a new job now, because work at that place will probably slow down in winter also. Also check out unemployment benefits.

Keep us posted and I'll be praying for you.

Sorry to hear about your having to sell your detectors and not able to detect, but I know when bills need to be paid, it is tough without money coming in to pay them! Casey and her hubby will see how hard it is to raise a family, now, and understand what it is like to have children to worry about in this old sinful world the way it is! I still pray for each of you and hope Casey does well in her pregnancy....morning sickness is HORRIBLE!! I still remember! I'm sorry too that the job isn't working out for you and I pray another job will come your way very soon, if not that God will supply all your needs someway and somehow, for there is nothing impossible for Him to do! He has helped me come a long way on very little money, even before I had the small portion of my ex's pension which was rolled into an IRA to fall back on! I also pray for Sherry's business to increase and give you both more income! God word says, Pray, do all you can do and then stand still and know that I am God, with Whom all things are possible!

God Bless!

Betty

Wal-mart.....I worked for them for over 3 years. Did night stock for a couple years then got into maintenance for the remainder of my time....due to the financial straights of mismanagment a hired gun came in, reduced prices of up to 1 million dollars to clear out the back room, then we lost our profit sharing checks that year and of the 8 people working maintenance 5 were canned...including me. I was the last of the 5. All were told "gross misconduct" and nothing more. Because of the gross misconduct firing none of us can work in any Wal-mart any where in the world...all because some weasel tried to make up that million bucks by firing those who were making the most.

You are right though...they worked me hard.
And like this employer treated us like dirt and discarded us.

Had to fight for my unemployment.. When the unemployment office checked into it they wrote and said I would get the benefits as I 'was dismissed without reason'.
