A couple of questions, why is there holes punched in the Japanese bills,and any info on the 1920 1 franc trial strike would be greatly appreciated, and yes I bought some of them obviously ,I couldn't help myself self, have a blessed day friends

if the holes match those in a filing cabinet, you have the answer
 
The banknotes are from when Japan occupied the Philippines.
The issuing country was the Philippines, but the issuing entity was the Japanese government.
