I'm not from the TC area but have been thinking of taking a mini vacation there. I know there are lots of beaches in the area and have wondered how the hobbyist do up there.
 
I went there in July. North beach had allot of junk. We found out there use to factories there that were torn down. I did find and old pocket watch in about 3 foot of water. The main beach is hunted regularly. I'm not saying you won't find anything but its tough hunting. You might try the sand bar at Torch Lake. We did not have time but from what I here about the area it could be good.
