Tried the M6...

User friendly for sure with a large screen for us older guys. Spot on numbers for coins and easy to pinpoint with. For those good with tone interpretation a nice midline unit.
Whites sure makes some nice units but with changes , programs and the like certainly a learning period...certainly not with the M6 as user friendly at its finest for a newbie or an olbie like my self.

Your exactly right the M6 is a very good detector especially for us old folks . I am on my third one sold my first one to Larry-IL and then bought another one and traded it for two cheaper new detectors for my sons to use as they learned this great sport. No matter how many times I get rid of mine I keep coming back to it cause it satisfies me better than any other detectors I have used which has been a bunch . Then I bought my first one back from Larry and plan to keep it this time . Its just a great easy to use detector with a big choice of coils , I prefer the SEF 8x6 and the whites D2 for me personally but there are many to choose from so everyone can find a coil that suits there type of detecting . The more you use yours the better you will like it .

It is certainly a delight to use! Best machine I have ever had for gold. My favorite coil is undoubtedly the 4x6. Stays on it 95% of the time. Sold my first one to get an MX5, then traded the MX5 for another M6. I will NEVER be without an M6 again!

M6 in my neck of the woods is a 7-8 inch unit but has a dead on ID for the goodies and great ergonomics...Guess that's why we all have several to fit different situations...

Well I just ordered the SEF 6x8 coil for my M6, Im working a lot now (60-70 hrs a week) driving ice cream truck,but if I get caught up on stuff ill be able to go out for a couple of hrs and try the new coil out , im excited!

You going to love it . Its a very good coil works as good as the bigger coils and has great target separation just covers a little smaller area is all . Keep us informed of your thoughts after you get a chance to use it . Boy I would love to find a detecting buddy that drove a Ice Cream truck but your to far from me .

For some coin hunters I generally turn the threshold clear down and the gain (sens) clear up in +3 area if possible, that gives me some more depth, maybe in real hot ground this may not work? I'm addicted to the mxt's love 'em. had all of the models and settled back on the reg mxt. still like the knobs type detectors. shortribs

So true Dan. The m-6 is one of those detectors that is in a class by itself.

Yes the M6 is a great machine, top notch and simplicity wrapped up in one unit. The M6 and a good ol' Classic IDX and MXT Pro are my three main machines when I am hunting old ghost towns and homestead sites.
I just got a new MX5 from Monte. The Mx5 is a great lil machine, but for me it will not replace my M6. The MX5 I tried a few times and now sits back in the box it came in. I like the Variable Disc knob on the M6 so I can just fine tune it to just knock out nails. Don't really care for the notch disc on the MX5. I think I'll use the MX5 to hit parks and so forth.
They say there isn't one perfect detector, but had they put a back lite on the M6 it would have sure been close for the type and places I like to hunt......but then I have the MXT Pro when a back lite is needed. Of the three machines I use the M6 85% of the time. And now the new M6's that are coming out have the same flat black matte finish just like the MXT Pro (All Pro) has and not the glossy black paint job.They look nice.
