Tried the SunRay 5.5" coil...

Bill Ladd

New member
for a short hunt at a cellar hole before the rains, & a damn poacher drove us out :ranting:
I'm not sure if the guy had a rifle or a banjo ...but anyhow....
I put the new coil on the C$, & thought overall it was a darn good size. Not too, too small, like the old Fisher 3.5". This one was pretty ideal for around the foundations that are always loaded with square nails. Also it was not so small that I could stray out into the outer yard areas. I was able to extract a few goodies close to the foundation & amid trash. A thimble, an 1882 indian head, a flat button (1830-40's), Rosette, umbrella part, cover, etc. Not a bad quick trial & I didn't feel I was giving up much in depth & ID numbers were right on......
More info to come when weather improves......but here's a picture of the coil (Half dollar on it for size, that's not a hole). Also a photo of what it found in a couple hours work :detecting:
HH,

Nice finds for the short hunt, too.

How is the sweep speed?

I really didn't see any difference in sweep speed compared with the stock 8". Of course I had to slow down a tad if only to make the sweeps overlap with a smaller coil....(probably a good thing in trashy huntin' anyhow )

it's just a small connector piece. Since it's been raining here I have only tried it around the house so far. I'm a take it into the field tommorrow.....

If you go to slow, you won"t pick up anything, at least you don"t on the one I have, What about the connector, is it waterproof? I use an Edge.
