Trouble charging the 11" coil

Each time i charge the coil it will only charge at 1/2 charge, the light comes on steady for about two hours then starts the slow blink. The terminals are clean, i cover them with black tape after each charging. Usually i can reconnect and charge for about another hour to full charge, but this time it still showed 1/2 charge again so back on the charger, i will leave it on until it blinks again and see where the charge is then. The unit is about 4 months old and has had this problem from day

Is this some what normal or does it sound like a battery problem?

Mine is about 4 years old and the battery has become rather pathetic , especially with 4.0. Same with the battery in the remote.
Yours is too young to be that problematic. Give Moe a call at metaldetector.com , he has a method that allows you to judge the battery condition by letting the machine run down , I think in 4khz.

If you are charging all three units at once and phones and remote show full charge but coil only one or two bars put the coil back on by itself for a couple of hours that will normally do it.

Thats what i have been doing and it full charged after the third attempt, i will try next time by just charging the coil by itself.

The clip seems to be the big problem according to" Moe" but from another forum i learned that taking the skid plate off and then putting on the clip may help, so i tried it and it fully charged in half an hour, don't know if this will work next time but i will try it again. You have to prop up the coil on one side or the clip won't make contact, the clip is loose but slide it until the light is solid and leave it there.

Give this a try if you have the problem of only charging half way when the light on the coil starts blinking.

Exactly what I've found. I set mine near the edge of the table I use so that the clip is not resting on the table or anything else.

Ok this is the second time that i have charged my 11" coil without the coil cover on and like the first time it charged in two hours to a full charge, i don't know why but it seems to work. Just tilt the coil up on edge a little bit so the clip doesn't bottom out. Put the clip on and slide it until the light on the coil is on steady. Seems to do the trick.
