I recently got a compadre to try my hand at finding jewlery in tot lots..It has the 5.75 coil..so,I’ve always been a coin hunter and found my share of old coins here in Pennsylvania..But I wanted to get gold this year, and have dug more junk in the park with the f75,nox and others than I care to admit. My back is broken .lol..The tot lot was a lot of fun even if gold wasn’t found..Best find is some flat copper token that says Carnegie science center..Still looking for bling tho
That token is actually money, sometimes called a smashed penny, real name elongated coin by collectors.
Put a one cent coin in a machine and two quarters and rollers in the machine make the keepsake, they have been around since the early 1900's.
Actually, the 1893 Columbian Exhibition hosted the first one.

These machines are usually stationed at amusement parks, museums and other venues with heavy foot traffic, Disney World has many all over their property or used to, anyway.
I have found them from Vegas and all kinds of places around the country because they tend to travel.
I am pretty sure I found one made from an Indian head cent, one time.
As far as that Compadre, the thing hits hard on precious metal jewelry of all kinds like it is a religion with this thing...especially once you learn the language.
Chains, too.
I have never had problems finding coins with it, either.
I have always used the thumb up-then thumb down discrimination method but there are many different ways they can be used.
Have fun!
