What is this? It isn't flat but shaped like a hersheys kiss. Its an inch and a quarter diameter and I'm guessing aluminum (very light)
 
A side view might help.
But I think it might be a domed fashion button that the back has rusted off and the front got crushed.
 
I would say it was a fly fisherman's storage pod for an extra fly hook.
Probably screwed together to keep water out in case dropped into water would float.
???Somebody will know though.
 
It's not crushed, and it does seem to be a top maybe if we knew what the A meant it would be simple. I'm not with the mystery item right now will post side view when I get home. Thanks a bunch I live on 20 acres in Georgia and a big plantation house burned down in the 1940's on the back of my property. I have had alot of fun finding treasures, much to my husband's displeasure as I'm ruining the lawn. Ooops sorry honey.
