Trying to learn the camera

Mary and I went to a local park tonight and I snapped a few pics to see what the Olympus could do. This is one of them that Mary liked..

I had to buy the B-Macro lens to get really good detail with mine.
Good shooting... Guvner..

I took these the other afternoon. I put the thing in Macro and just held it down and let er rip. Couldn't really see the viewfinder. It was hand held so I think with a little tripod and a little focusing the camera should do a good job

I don't know it these are getting through ;( Can you see them???

Had to laugh at myself ... until you showed picture #3 I thought your pictures were closeups vs macros. The last pic put it in perspective ;^)
Gord.

I don't know much about this stuff. The snakes were little. One was about 4 inchs long and a little bigger than a farmer match. I have messed with snakes all my life, you know catching them and having them for pets but I had never seen them this small. I have to find out what kind they are I had the camera set on Macro but didn't know weather to use the flash or not. When I did it pissed off the little snakes. ;( All I could do is hold the camera down as close as I could without upsetting them and snap it. I sure wasn't gonna stick my eye to the camera to do the focus thing. Had to wing it ;0)

Very impressive pic Royal... Mine (D600L Olympus) could never do that without it's macro lens.
Good shooting... Guvner..

Looked like a common water snake with that copperhead skin pattern. Round pupils and lack of viper head made it for sure not one of them little critters.
Nice pics... Guvner..

in Michagan and that is the Massauga Rattler. All those snakes weren't the same snake. I took a picture of one, that was all blury, that I think was a rattler. There are a lot of them in the area I was walking.
The one that was a head on shot was a gardner. I don't really know what I am doing with the Macro thing. Anyone have any tips?? Should I use a tripod or flash?? Should I defuse the flash or delay it?? Eliminate it and just use light from the side?? How do I set it up??? Common RM!! A little help

That snapped into the lens to help diffuse the flash so that would probably be an answer for part of your question...
Guvner..
