TTF ?

SWMO Mark

New member
I just got my Etrac a couple days ago. I have been reading about the benefits of TTF. I was wondering in TTF, if it was necessary to blank out any of the upper part of the screen to eliminate any false readings on iron. Thanks, Mark

I thought I had read where deep rusted iron would sometime sound off as a conductive target. Just didnt know if eliminateing the top of the conductive screen would eliminate any of this iron falseing. Or by useing 2 tones this was really needed.

I like to hear all the targets. So I set my TTF program up with ferrous 35 blacked out and use Quick Mask with a wide open screen to verify "iffy" targets. Sometimes, when the targets are few and far between, I'll hunt in the open screen Quick Mask and switch back to the "line 35" discrimination to verify. Just a matter of how much junk is in the field. If you do decide to reject some targets, don't black out the top horizontal line on the screen because Ferrous 01 is where big silver will register. JMHO HH Randy

Works perfect and is great for those wrap around high iron falses. Also help eliminate hot rocks here in SW MO that can at times hit as a high tone otherwise.Back when many of us first started using TTF this setup was found to work better than a wide open screen. The E-Trac works better for a lot of us with at least a tiny bit of discrimination.Something to do with the design as the Explorers worked fine with wide open zero disc.
Best to play around a bit at a old nail laden site and find the best combo to suit you.My setup has performed awesome at my old town site that was burned to the ground during the CW .It has some areas that are a solid carpet of square nails as there were over 40 houses and 8 businesses burned to the ground and then farmed for several years scattering the nails about.
