TUNE BEACHSCAN MK2

Could someone please tell me how to tune the Beachscan mk2 (it has a Mr.Bill SAT installed ) I'll be using it on wet and dry Salt sand . Thanks.
Dennis

Hi Dennis,
Basically very simple. Switch on and turn the threshold control up to the point where the audio is just audible. Set the reject initially to minimum, SAT control to half way and start searching.
Don't rush - just sweep the coil smoothly from side to side keeping it at as uniform a height as you can above the sand.
Bury a few coins, or other objects, at different depths to learn how the detector responds. As it is a motion type detector, the search coil has to be kept moving, otherwise the object signal will "tune" out.
The SAT speed control allows the operator to set the detector to cope best with different levels of beach mineralisation or conductivity. Set it so that the background audio variation from the sand is minimal, while the signals from metal targets can be plainly heard.
If you want to reduce the sensitivity to small objects and enhance that from larger ones, then you can turn the reject control back clockwise a bit. Small adjustments of this control can also counter interference from radio transmitters or other nearby detectors.
Be prepared to experiment, to find the best settings for you and the particular locality you are searching.
Eric.
