Tungsten Carbide rings on the detector...........

Since a few guys had asked about this subject (Sorry so late Boomers dad) I just went out and tested a nice size 10 Men's wedding band I found last year.
Yes I went outside at half past midnight to do this.
On the Explorer it came in around a zinc penny or Indian head. "coin" signal.
When turnd on end it gave a lower tone.

On my CZ-21 water machine that gives 3 tones, it came in as a mid tone. (gold pull tab)

on the Exterra it said it was a little lower than a penny.

Given that I would say most machines are going to hit in the coin range.

Would not know one if'n I saw it, but thanks for the info. How ya been doin Mike?

On my Minelab Safari, the zink penny comes in at 34/35 and the Indian Head penny comes in at 33. Older pennies come in at 36/38 depending upon depth. The closer they are to the surface, the higher the reading. By the same token, a modern dime and quarter comes in at 37/38, whereas an older dine and quarter comes in at a solid 38. From what you say Mike, the Tungsten ring will be somewhere in the zink penny range. Gosh ... I wonder how many Tungsten bands I have passed up by not digging the zink penny?

A little stressed lately! Better go diggin to de-stress!

I tested one today at work (borrowed it). I got similar results. 24 to 28 flat and 6 to 12 on edge and some tilt.
