Tuning or detuning the Sunray probe

Got my Sunray DX-1. I've been using a Vibraprobe. The Sunray is sensitive all along the shaft. I want power to concentrate on the tip. How do I coordinate settings on the MXT to accomploish this or is there a learinng curve I didn't anticipate. mike

I just got my Sunray DX1, and I would like the answer to Mike's question also. I like the way it fits on the detector it's very handy, But I cant get it to pick up on just the tip.

Right below the MXT forum is the Sunray Forum,,,Try there for a fast answer

Hi Mike,

If you have pulled the trigger to pinpoint and the signal the probe is picking up is too loud, stop moving the probe at a spot where you hear the signal and detune the probe by quickly releasing and repulling the trigger. If it is still to loud, detune it as many times as necessary to reduce the probes sensitivity. You can then quickly find the loudest signal spot.

Remember also that the DX-1 functions just like your main coil. The higher you turn up the gain the deeper it will pick up targets

Hunt4fun has the answer. That's all there is to it. Don't forget to keep the the trigger pulled back as you use the probe.
