Tuning the Fisher Impulse

When I movc to wet sand with my impulse the detector's tuning changes. When I go into the ocean I must retune to get threshold and when I get out of the wate the Threshold blasts my ears. Is this normal? I thought the threshold would not change from wet to dry to the ocean. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

The Impulse is a <STRONG>manually</STRONG> tuned PI detector.
You will have to re-tune it as your using the unit to maintain threshold.
