Turn off detector to insert earphones???

Hi,
Can someone please let me know if it is OK to plug in the headphones for my X-Terra705 while the unit is on.

I can't see why not.
 
I've unplugged mine to let a fellow coinshooter hear the signals. Then I plug them back in to resume my hunt. I've never had a problem. I think all that happens (electronically) is that the plug of the headphones opens up the contacts to the speaker, and makes contact with the tip/ring/sleeve of the jack assembly. JMHO HH Randy
 
I doubt it will hurt, but as a general rule you should turn electronics of when making or breaking connections.
