A few days ago I dug this ring in a tot lot, looked at it's ugly hide and put it in my pocket. When I got home I put all my junky stuff out and, as always, checked a couple rings for stamps in the band (as I always do no matter what they are). Fortunately I did as under a magnifier I see 14 K !!
Long story short - I take it to the jeweler and 2 days later it's been cleaned ( 8 bux charge) and looks great. He said it might have been in a fire as there is some small pitting, fortunately only showing up in an enlargement pic like this. They also checked the stones and they are CZ. Guess it's too much to ask for diamonds also
So bottom line is - always check things out no matter what they look like. This is not the first time I have dug something ugly that turned out to be valuable. steve in so az
