turning 50

The way I look at it is I'm 21 with almost 36 years experience....I still have all my mental facilities ( at least the ones I didn't lose from my rowdy younger years ) but my knees creak and moan after a long day detecting.
I guess we should all be thankful for our reasonably good health.... we could be much worse off. Happy Hunting to all and wish everyone a Merry Christmas !

I've been married 47 years now. I take my grandsons with me sometimes. I've been hunting approx 20 years and I never get tired of it.

Thanks Charlie for your words of wisdom I will let the wife know when she gets home.
I am now 53 and wanted to Metal detect since I was 10 years old when I did a grade school speech about treasure hunting. Here is a picture of a book I got back in 1975 Getting Started in Treasure Hunting by Alan Smith. I just started Detecting 6 years ago at age 47.
It took 37 years to get started using a metal detector but in fact I have been treasure hunting all of my life weather at a auction, yard sale or thrift store.

Happy Birthday & Happy Holidays to you all. I will be 54 on the 18th. of this month. I have a wonderful wife and two wonderful kids (a daughter Sarah and a son Adam). I was married to my wife in 1991 started dating her in 1981.

Wow Minas man, with the years of treasure hunting experience you brought with you to detecting, you must have really been excited when you first put that coil to the soil !!. Detecting is just one of the treks we take on our hunts for treasure, and to "dig" adds fresh fire to our excitement of the hunt every time we turn the dirt! HH, Charlie
