TV Preachers

I look at more TV at work than at home(yeah, I know what y'all must think)....I work at a water plant, usually by myself, and we have dish network. We get alot of "religious" channels, and since being "born again" a couple months ago, I don't want to watch anything but good Christian programs. Is this normal? I like Charles Stanley, of course, David Jeremiah, Joyce Meyer, and Rodney Howard Browne(I think his name is). I sometimes wonder if I am "obsessed" with my new life in Christ. I am somewhat of a stranger to the old me, so I KNOW I'm a stranger to my wife. WOW! it's been a strange transition........But I asked for it, I might add. To those who doubt the existance of the "born again" phenomenon, I can tell you that it is real. If it happens to you, that's all the proof you need. I can't remember the "old" me too well, but my priorities have changed from pleasureous things to righteous things. My main question is, what do I do now? When we are annointed, as I feel I am, what next? Do many of you watch the religion channels all the time? Since I have no friends that are experiencing this along with me, I don't have anyone to ask about it. How long does it take to get to know the "new" you? It is strange, but a good thing.

Try to ride that spiritual high as long as you can. Dig into the Bible and read all you can in it. Be careful of false preachers. If you watch a ton of them, some may not be right on. If they stray from God's word, don't listen to them. Find some other Christians who are spirit filled and they help you in your walk.
Keep prayed up, and lastly watch out for the devil's attacks! he will be after you.

mine was "radio" preachers. d.james kennedy, james dobbson, robbie zacherius, alister begh. try and keep that zeal going. my experiance has been alot of highs and lows in my walk with christ.

Thank y'all for the replies. A good preacher lives down the road from me, but I don't go to his church. May go talk to him.......

It is called "hunger" for the Word. Of course, the best place to get that is from the book itself, not others. Why? Because although I would trust David Jeremiah without a doubt, others on your list are a little "iffy". Still will the book, prayer and keep a journal you can reflect on.

Will keep your quest in prayer!

Thanks, Burien. I am making a habit of reading some in the Bible every day. I'm in Corinthians, now.

Hello again Tesoronut! You are experiencing what all new born-again Christians experience! Thirsting after the word of God is best for knowing Who God is and what He's done and will do for you! I started out with different preachers too when I was hungry for His wisdom and knowledge! I don't even listen to most of them any more! I have my own mind and by asking for understanding when I didn't or don't is the best as you seek God and His Holy Spirit! If I didnt quite understand something I would pray about it until I got the understanding! Now, if only my memory would improve with Jesus' help, I might remember some of the things He told and showed me! As you grow and know the word yourself, many of the preachers you watch and listen to you will not enjoy, but they are a stepping stone until you have farther knowledge! I studied fervently my KJV Bible...Thompson Chain....for over 20 years and have truly learned a lot by searching the scriptures! It is a good Bible, if you need one!!

Jesus says seek me and you will find me and gain godly wisdom with understanding! Wisdom is better than rubies and pearls! Keep the faith and kick old satan out when he comes bothering and tempting you! When you know you are having trouble and struggling....ask Jesus to answer the door and use the scriptures against the devil and he will flee! He cannot stand the truth, for he is a liar and the father of them! Amen! God Bless! Betty

I don't watch much tv at all. Too much trash and negativity and lies. I do love to listen to Contemporary Christian Music as often as I can. I even play it for the ministering to others on Blip.fm (look for MinisterPete).

I am glad the old me is no longer. I was not nice at all. Thank God I am not the same.

I have found some good Bible study lessons on the internet to learn more of Jesus and our Father. There are some good free studies at www.settingcaptivesfree.com as well as courses to help people be free of bondage to pornograghy, smoking, drinking, eating, etc. I liked the study about the full armor of God and also one about the study of the Cross.

God bless you and yours. May your spirit become strong in the Word and in faith and hope.

Like others have said. Find you a good Bible believing, Bible teaching, Bible living church. Be wary of the false religions. Don't go by the name on the door. Attend a service or better several services and carefully compare what is preached and taught with what the Bible says. If it doesn't line up with the Bible, run away from it. Many of the so called preachers on TV are more in it for the glory for themselves and the income it provides. There are some good Christ following TV preachers. Again compare what they say with the Bible. There are some I considered good preachers, but even after a few years, they began to interject some false teaching into their programs. Get involved in a Bible study with a group of Bible believing Christians. Seek God and He will direct you.
