"Twist .. Press-Press ... Press and Pump." ... Or you could say

Monte

"Twist .. One-Two .. Press and Pump."

Either way, when I am just going to make quick work of some wood-chip playgrounds, the Omega 8000 is very quick to get into action. Personally, I like to hunt with the highest Sensitivity setting I can while maintaining stability (actually more "on the edge" or "in the noise" than quiet), and in the Discriminate more I prefer the 4-tone function for playgrounds and the 2-tone audio ID for the Discriminate mode in renovation site and most everything else.

So, I just Twist the Sensitivity 'On' and to the highest setting (reducing only if I have to),
do a Press.. Press (One-Two) on the Tones touch-pad to get to d4,
then Press 'Grab' and Pump (bob) the search coil.

The Omega 8K's audio is quite informative, and it's nice to have the middle tone for the 5

I started following Tom and Monte's reports on the Omega several months ago when I started looking for a mid-priced ID detector. These two guys have been around many detectors and when they endorse a detector, it pays to give it a look. I was torn between a F70 and Omega and between these guys glowing endorsement and the dealer I buy from, I settled on the Omega. Easy to learn, good price, several coils, and big time performance. Alot of bang for the buck!

BuckeyeBrad's initial reports, in truth I didn't really but there is always that niggling little doubt in your mind.

Thanks Brad!

When I tested the Gamma and Omega which yielded huge enthusiasm on my part and knowing there weren't (hardly) any of them out in the field yet, I knew I was probably gonna get rode hard and put away wet to various degrees until hopefully others saw for themselves. My biggest compensation has been seeing highly skilled and experienced folks like yourself's findings being very similar to mine over time. That tells me I (we?) must have learned something for all this time and money I've invested in waaaaaayyy too many detectors, which is all I ever wanted to accomplish.

Brad, sorry for the slight. You and Bill were the people who got this Omega forum rolling. Great to have people like you to get an honest opinion. Your testing proved that the Omega is one of the best "pound for pound" detectors made! R.L.

I'm not trolling for any notoriety or credit for anything. I was just fortunate to get my hands on one early on and at this point I simply enjoy seeing the positive opinions of the Greek Teks escalate as more and more folks try them out. They're pretty special detectors. The big majority of users that give them a little time seem to develop an above average amount of enthusiasm for them and that's definitely cool! I suspect FT is pleased with what they're seeing also and I suspect that will lead them to give us more improvements and additional features using the platform. Hope the Omega keeps delivering on the fun and finds for you!!

IH's can high tone! Got one today next to an old Depot turned museum that hit mostly 77 but occasionally came in at 80 with the high tone. Muttering under my breath as I dug "if this is an IH that dang Brad is right again"!

yeah!..it surely makes you wonder what the f**k we are doing?
no reflection on ANYONE but this is what happens when WE don't think beyond our noses!
this detector was sitting right under our noses all this time, and we are just NOW discovering
how GOOD it is?..(w.t.f!)..(hot damn!)at least we finally "smartened" up and discovered this true "sleeper!"

in addendum!...maybe we all became too "enamored" with the 75 twins!

since 1975. Of course nothing tops the excitement of the first detector, the AH mini pro I had, when I dug up an IH cent at an inch deep! Thought I hit the mother lode!!

yess!..i remember that feeling well!..i started in 1977 with a high frequency tr,and thought it was out of this world
good to "hit" silver at the 2 inch level, and seated and barbers too!..i was on the top of the world gettin' down about 4 inches or so!

I used an Omega 8000, briefly, shortly after they were released, bu8t due to the weather at the time I didn't get to really use it much. I just checked it out and liked some of what I saw and felt.

After hearing from others and a few inquiries, I realized I might have overlooked a really great offering. My (until now) main-use detector isn't poorly balanced, but it isn't as light and comfortable as the Omega. Like anyone who really puts in the field time with it and learns it well, I like it more and more. Still, it is the enjoyable FUN of using it that is quite appealing, too. Longer field times w/o fatigue are a pleasure, and getting great results all the while, too!

The Omega is simply FUN.

as you mentioned monte, and i concur,..one must NOT overlook the fun factor as well!..
after all, that's what we are in business for!..to find stuff, get exercise, and of course to have FUN!
in that respect,we are like little children with our "toys!"..he!.he!.he!..what's NOT to like?
