Two 1941's, and yes :clapping:another Merc today

Went to a old "stand by" place I hunt when it is too dry to dig in the lawns. Its about a half mile square and was a pig farm back in the late 1800's. Has quite the history. They used to cart in all the leftovers and garbage from resterants and dinners, from the area, back in the day and feed the pigs.
Along with the slop, there are coins mixed in, along with about anything imaginable.I have found some great stuff here over the years.Lg cents, Halfs, barbers, mercs, over 200 wheats.Trade tokens,"good for " tokens"
Oh and the spoons,,they are everywhere. Have 176 I saved including 3 silver spoons. It is not easy to detect at this place. There is so much junk it is hard to get a perfect signal on any coin, but it does happen occasionally. This merc rang in perfect on the ace.

I have had the Ace for 12 days, its hard to use at a place like this when still learning how to interpit the iffy signals.I mean when objects are mixed together. Can't take a step without getting at least 1 target that gives a bell tone from one direction but not the other.
I dig everything at first(about an hour) then start getting picky. Maybe just the targets that seem smaller wt broken bell tone. Then at the end when I'm wore out. I scan around looking for only the perfect signals. In doing this , a person starts to realize how many broken signals are in the ground(some descent) (!000's of them)
Like I said,, this place is a hard to detect.
Any imput or ideas for a place like this(basically a dump with coins mixed in) would be appreciated.
Thanks for listening to me rant.

P.S. I already have some asprins,,,,and some beers in the fridge.

Unfortunately I have spots like that as well but I have figured that I will remove the tons of trash piece by piece if I have to and get good stuff in between until all that is left is good stuff or no stuff.

I guess what I am saying is I will dig it all and just grid the area one section at a time cleaning up as I go. After all it is giving you a place to detect and you already know that good stuff is in the "slop" parden the expression.

Also it is a good spot for you to try your various settings to see how they will react to the individual targets. Try the jewerly setting one visit and see how you make out then try the coin setting the next etc etc. Find out which setting works best for you at this site.

nice finds flash. I have a site like that also and I have removed approx. 4 lbs of trash so far. Have plenty more to get through, but I am finding some good stuff on a regular basis now!! Keep at it you won't be disappointed!:detecting:

That is pretty much what I have been doing at this place for years. Digging everything in a area does pay off, but it is alot of work. I can only keep it up for a short time.

I went back tonight and found 4 more wheats. And a few new coins.

I will try coin mode the next time I go there.
Thanks.

Here's a pic of some spoons, pic taken in 2004. And 3 silver spoons.

You should definetly twitch all those iffy signals in a junk laden area like that. You could be passing up some good stuff.
