Dug this with capri_auto on our second hunt (first one was an 1830) - this one is 1849 which was an interesting year...This one is in pretty nice shape for our soil and while cleaning it I noticed the private counter strike...looks like it was hit three times to add a bisected triangle with the letters "RAM" in the lower section what looks like the number "265" in the upper section. Someone suggested they used such cents as Tool Tags, I though perhaps some sort of advertising. Definitely adds some colorful history to this great find for me.
Any ideas, thoughts, guesses???
