Two mornings this past weekend.

Got up at 5:00 Sat. and Sunday to hit a tiny little park in the center of town. Could only hunt until 7:30 cause the sprinklers come on at that time. Lots of wheats. Most 40's 50's. A 1945 P war nickel, 1920 Merc, 1953D Roosie, little bottle, plane wing, buttons and a 1832 LC found at around 10" in a layer of sandy soil. I don't know if this is a common thing for coins of this period or not but if you are looking at the head side straight up and flip the coin straight over the back side is tilted almost 30 deg.. Does anyone know if that is normal?
Anyway, thanks for looking and happy hunting.

Nice finds, especial that Large cent. I think you are describing die rotation. On US coins, the obverse and reverse are 180 degrees out of sync.(Most medals do not have this). During the minting of coins, one die can become loose and rotate relative to the other die and rotate or the operator may have not put them in correct alignment. This is not uncommon, especially in early coins where quality control was the least of their problems. These rotations may bring a slight premium-the ones that are 180 degrees out of sync bring the most premium. One of recent editions of Coin World newspaper had an extensive article on die rotation - maybe you can get a copy somewhere. Neat finds and HH.

Nice going GR.:clapping: That LC is sweet and something that is on my wish list, but LC's around my area are very rare. Good luck on your next hunt and dig a LC for me. HH.

Nice outings and congrats with the LC. Man......I gotta get me one of those! Might have to do a road trip into Wisconsin since Chris(SoCenWI) finds them every once in awhile and maybe then I will pop one out. Continued Success, Good Luck and HH to you.
