Two Tone Ferrous...... Unlocking the "mystery", Part 2

Here is the link to Minelab's Treasure Talk forum, where Part 2 of my TTF blog has now been posted. http://www.minelab.com/usa/treasure-talk/e-trac-two-tone-ferrous-unlocking-the-mystery-part-2

Thanks for that. I was just wondering if I would sacrifice finding silver by running in TTF. I found several pennies and a couple of nickels (which I never seem to find in conductive), but I only pulled one silver. Of course, I've only covered a very small area so far. As background, the yard I am hunting is full of nails. I was running on Auto +3, but I was getting falsing and nulling every few inches, literally. I started using TTF yesterday, and I felt like I was "hearing" the good targets better. Now, those damn bottle caps are another story.

Is there a link to step by step instructions on how to set this up?
Please note: I have had my E-Trac less than 24hours and this is my first real detector :drinking:

Thanks for the help

Actually, you can build your TTF from any other program. The quickest would be to pick one that most closely reflects your settings, change the audio mode to ferrous and 2 tones and any other tweaks you want to make. Then save it as a new program. For example, you could take the Relic mode (which is already set for ferrous sounds) edit the screen so that all the segments are accepted, then change the multi-tone to 2-tone. Then, save that as one of your User modes or Discrimination Programs. Or, you could take the Coin Program, open up the screen so nothing is rejected, change the audio mode to ferrous two tone, and save it as one of your User modes or Discrimination Programs.

In my opinion, the basis for learning the E-TRAC is to understand the functionality and adjust the settings to maximize its performance for your sites. If TTF will work for some of your sites, build a hunt mode to reflect the settings that fit your needs, set it up for ferrous audio and two tones, and save it for future use. JMHO HH Randy

It only seems that way because silver is a less common type of coin to be found.

It seems to me this setup really only causes you to dig targets you might not normally dig in conductive audio. That is to say I tend to cherry pick because the conductive audio makes it pretty obvious when you hit a copper or silver, but of course it isn't fool proof, so there could be good coins that don't read/sound in the normal good area. I've dug several good coins that had a low CO number and tone, but I dug them because they depth was right. Using ferrous tone, at least for me, seems to be just a way to force you to dig targets you might not normally dig. And of course this CAN result in pulling good coins out of a place you missed them cherry picking in conductive audio.

Every time I've tried TTF all I do is dig more trash. Not my idea of fun. If I wanted to dig more trash in pursuit of a few extra goodies I'd just get a basic detector and dig it all.
