Maybe just me,but it seems, right after you change a coil you get really great depth.
after a while it seems not as good,or so it seems.
anyone else?

I think to me I am always worried about losing depth, and changing setting for each coil. Still newer in M.D. hunting, with the SE as my first, and only land unit, I have a 15 wot and a 5x10 joey and a explorer II coil, plus my SE coil, I think I would have been money ahead of the game with a 5" really hot coil and a S E F 10x12 if it does what they say it will do. Don't get me wrong all the other coils as far as I can tell work great with good depth too, But I think I see to many people digging silver in there areas that are older areas of the country and more parks for people to go to. For use in South Texas we don't find all that old silver, until they clear a old building off a lot and do ground work. After getting to know the other more seasoned hunters in this area and hunting with them and seeing there machines work I know I am getting as deep as them, but their experience in the art of M D they put it to me. I think now a coil should be tested out before you buy one, the area and the kinda hunting we all do is so different that coils make the big difference. Plus I would like to find some more Explorer users in this part of the country to see the settings they use, I think I am the only person down here with a Explorer SE or any kind of a Explorer. Maybe the coil issue is kinda like dating, at first it's great then you see something better and you go for it with that old repeating affect for something better.

Thanks for the reply, that was great.
Really hard to find old silver here in my part of missouri too.
everyones finds of the old silver,is great.
i have come to be hunting probably four days a week.
i have found a silver dime and a v nickel this year and some wheats.
Have found like 9 rings this year now,so finding jewelry is a plus for me.
im always researching and traveling, farther and farther it seems.
just enjoy going and finding things,
you never know whats out there.

My depth changes more often based on the tempture and soil.... normally its something like a sensitive setting or hay... maybe there just isnt anything there deep. Ive also found i just hunt slow enough that it has to be really trashy to make me want to change a coil. Yes i use the 10 X 12 SEF. Ive alway figured if i can hunt trash with a big coil then clearer places should be a snap.

that each coil hits a little different and seems to pick a few targets the others seem to have missed.....other than gaining depth.
I have a lot of coils in my arsenal...and each has it's own unique qualities that hit different...sound a little different...separate different...etc.
My favorite coil is the 10 x 12 SEF coil...for many reasons....but all the other coils I use have a definite place in my arsenal...and help me to find a few more coins at different sites.
My 6" excelerator actually does seem to get me more depth in trashy sites though because it "sees" around...through..between...etc...trash...and sniffs out keepers at pretty sweet depths.
