UBO - Unidentified buried object

Mike in MN

New member
A friend of mine found this item recently. He showed it at our club meeting, and no on knows for sure what it is.
Does anyone here know what it is?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

UMMM?
Im guessing not an aluminum dowel
Those quarters laying beside it would mean that's BIG wood to hold togethor

IS it am old window weight ............?????????????

If it is very light in weight and looks to have been attached to a rod on one end I would guess it is the float to an old watering trough, or toilet. But that is a wild guess.

No, it has one small hole in one side at about the mid-point of the item. I'm not actually certain it is aluminum because it is fairly heavy for aluminum. Folks in our club speculated that it had something to do with electric fencing. Personally, I have no idea what it is. I was really hoping someone here would know. Thanks for all suggestions.

I have been around electric fencing since the 60's and don't recall anything like that. If the hole is in the center, could it be a handle to a probe of some sort? Maybe a probe to locate pipe or clay tile.

This is just a wild guess, but could it be an expansion chamber for an old automotive A/C system. Here is a picture of a modern one.

Handle to an old tire plugger?

Thanks for the suggestion, but I don't think that is what this is. The item in my picture is hollow, and definitely doesn't look machined.

odd find ... are you able to get a few pics of the ends, might help ID it. interesting to see what it is.
