I've heard rumors but don't think it pertains to general metal detecting.

As with many acts...you can read into them. There is no mention of metal detectors. Archaeological significant find? There is no definition? But.....where this will go? Time will tell.

Yeah I noticed that also but I signed the petition against it anyway. 
Seems it's more about removing artifacts from Indian land. Oregon is a pretty free wheeling state. They don't ban much of anything here.
