It is springtime and I am needing help on deciding which metal detector to get. I am considering the GTI 1500 and the GTP1350. I will mainly be searching for relics coins etc. I will also be fresh water beach hunting as well as some gold hunting in North Carolina and Georgia. I am looking for opinions on which one will be best suited for what I am looking to do. Thank you for your help and Happy Hunting.

The GTI 1500 is an updated GTP 1350, so I think the 1500 would be better suited. Not real sure of the main differences but I'm sure the people on this forum will be helpful. I've owned mine for a year and you won't have any problems finding coins and relics. The 1500 is a real coin magnet and as for relics, I'm sure it will fit the bill. As far as gold nuggets, I won't be able to give you experiences on because I've never looked for the nuggets and I don't think those Garrett's are not know for being "gold machines" Gold rings, coins... yes, but nuggets ...maybe.......depends on the ground mineralization ...but I'll stand corrected.

Aside from the imaging or profiling they are identical machines so your choice would be between the imaging and profiling. The 1500 was designed for coinshooting and does a bang-up job of it. Both will handle freshwater beach hunting unless the beaches contain a lot of black sand. Neither are equipped for nuggetshooting.

If you can get one of the coinshooter special on the 2500 with the pinpointer and 4" coil at a good price that would be a great deal. the pinpointer would run you about 128 by itself and the 4" coil would run about $90 when I was deciding between the 1500 and 2500 that was the difference in my decision plus the 2500 has the all metal mode.

I appreciate all of the responses. It really has helped me with making my decision. I am going with a 1350 for now. From what I've read the 13 and the 15 operate on the same frequency but the 15 has a better screen. A friend of mine was trying to talk me into a MXT but I can't believe it is a better machine when it operates on 15 khz and a the Garrett operates on 7. From what I've read the lower the khz the deeper it punches. That's why I picked the 1350 out of all of them because I think it will be better suited for what I am hunting for. Thanks for all your help. God Bless and Happy Hunting

i have had both the 1350 and the 1500, i find the 1500 much much easier to use.....i didn't like the 1350's profiling feature it would screw you up sometimes if it got left turned on.
plus the 1500 gives you the size as you pinpoint vs having to pinpoint then image or image then pinpoint.something like that. those that have used a 1350 will know what i am trying to say...lol

My primary hunting machine is the GTP 1350. I have never owned the 1500. I love my 1350 and I love the profiling feature. When I was shopping for a new machine I went with the 1350 over the 1500 and I just figured the 1500 was a watered down version of the 2500. When I upgrade some day it will probably be the 2500 or whatever new top dog Garrett comes out with to replace the 2500. I guess my logic was that if I went for the 1500 I would have just spent the extra 150 bucks and got the 2500. Since I couldn't spend that much I went with the 1350 and I have been very satisfied with it.:garrett:
