Under the sidewalk

MassSandman

New member
Friday evening I noticed that the city had torn up the old sidewalk along one of the beach front roads so Saturday morning at "0-dark thirty" I was there. I had had trouble sleeping Friday thinking this was going to be a trove of Barbers and seated coins. No such luck. Over a stretch of maybe 400 yards, I got three wheats, '55, '57D, and '53, a little silver charm shaped like an elm leaf and a copper coin, larger than a dime and smaller than a quarter so obliterated and corroded, I can't tell what it is. Also pulled out 8 memorial cents and a couple of bucks worth of clad coins. Very tough substrate to dig in under the sidewalk. I found out later that the sidewalk was replaced before in 1981. Better luck next time I guess. HH. PS. Sorry, I don't have the computer equipment to post pictures

Hi MassSandman,

You had a go at it, that's the main thing, next time it might be better.
