I have a section of yard that is crisscrossed with 220 power lines. One for outdoor walk lights, the next for a well pump and the last for the guest house. It gets frustrating detecting within 10 feet of the lines because of emi and false signals. Well today I tried salt compensate and ran the gain at 12 and disc at 85 or so. The eclipse 5.3 was on my detector today and seems to have found a home there.
Running salt compensate I was able to harvest another 15 pennies out of this section of yard and numerous non ferrous targets including this little gem. It was down a good 5" and had foil and nails within inches of it. Once again the v3i locks on to those round targets like no other detector. I thought without a doubt it was another pulltab. The vdi was a little jumpy but rang from 35-50, right in the pull tab area. Its made of 14k rolled gold plate and has a little chunk of silver on it. That makes 4 gold rings out of the yard if I can call it that...
Using the pinpoint feature and analyzing the the frequencies that each target was hitting on and then using that to position the coil directly over the target I was able to wiggle the coil and get vdi's on each individual target. Using this method with the v3i you will very seldom get fooled by iron, it happens but seldom. There is just nothing confusing about this method and it works awesome, if it does not repeat on the positive side(5-92) after locating, and pinpoint only shows one target dont bother digging, move on to the next target.
I have dug a thousand what iffs and they are never silver, unless that 2.5 is dominant and you just have to know......dont bother.
I guess I cant even pass them signals up, want to see my square nail collection?
