Unexpected finds...

Pete in MI

New member
Took Casey to work this morning and figured while I was out I would hit a couple Geocaches before it got too hot (supposed to be 91 in the shade today. Here's what I wrote in logging my Missed Cache:

"Cache Not Found: Not that I had much of a chance to look for it. I was spotted by 5 kittens that some (er) person dropped off and left without food or water. Temperature today is supposed to be up to 91 in the shade. I provided them water and stayed with them. I called a friend to call Animal Control to let them know of these poor creatures.
While the call was going out 2 other vehicles pulled in and parked under a tree. No one got out so I figured it might be more Geocachers. They were ball players come to play ball at the field. Animal control got notified but my cell did not ring when Animal Control tried to reach me. Lucky for these kittens one of the guys and his son gathered them up and took them home. Later, after talking to Animal Control I heard the wife of the gentleman and Mother of the son had called Animal Control to say they were bringing them in to them.
Though not a good find for me, I was a great find for the kittens. I hope they do well and find good homes. As for the one(s) who dropped them off only they and God knows who they are so may He deal with the person(s). The mother cat was no where to be found so leads me to believe it was a house cat they wanted to keep but didn't want the little ones."

I think I made 5 great finds. Prefer to find live kittens than ones that are starved or dehydrated to death. God had me there for a purpose and it wasn't to find a geocache. I wish I had taken the camera so I could have gotten a pic of them. They were so cute. Couple thought I was a tree and tried climbing me.

So we know that God cares about even the sparrow...and kittens. Why would we ever think He cares less about us? Thank you God for using me to help those kittens.

Well pet if GOD cares for sparrows he also cares for cats and its a better wourld whith people like you in it , and in the world to come .gunnar bradford minnesota

I might be sitting here with 9 cats instead of 4

Just a thought though... The kittens may not have been dropped off by someone. If they were "old" enough to climb your leg and play around, they may have simply wandered off from their mother while exploring. Or perhaps something happened to her.

Nice job helping them out though. Vicky and I did the same thing with a kitten we found in a bird sanctuary while on a day trip out east. Like all kittens, he was the cutest thing. We eventually took him in the car and went for some cat food. Vicky put some on her finger to have him lick it off. Well, he didn't lick the food. He proceeded to chomp down on her finger with those needle-like teeth, drawing blood. Had to wait a couple of seconds for the kitten to open its mouth again though. Went back to the store for Bactine and Band-Aids :)

We did manage to convince a local animal hospital to take the little thing, but only after holding it up to the faces of the two women behind the counter. (who said they could not take any more strays) One little "mew" from this guy and they couldn't resist. :)

with 3 dogs, a cat and 14 (???) parrots (I lose count) there was no way I was going to bring insanity....well any more insanity into the house.

My Mom once tried to rescue a little kitten living under an outhouse. For her efforts she got a very nasty gash across her cheek under one eye from the kitten.

Apparently no one taught that kitten ya brought home that 'ya never bite the hand that feeds ya'. If only Vicky had known that might have saved her a nasty bite.

I told Sherry how upset I was with the person or people who dropped those kittens off and she mentioned that these are probably the same people or like them that abort babies and don't give it a second thought. I pray God gives them a conscience that keeps nagging them about what they have done. (That applies to the abortionists too).
God help the world get right with Him.
