Unidentified Aluminum Lid

Hey everyone!
I’m new to the forum, but I’ve been metal detecting as a hobby for a few years. Anyways, I found this strange lid to something and was wondering if anyone could identify it for me.
It reads “15¢ OFF” in the middle. Also, there is a GA on the bottom (either being short for gasoline or maybe manufactured in Georgia?)I’ve tried scrubbing at it for a long time, but it’s not getting any cleaner. I put a bottle cap next to it for a size comparison. I was metal detecting near an early 1960s ski hill, so it is most likely dated around that time period.
Any and all help would be appreciated. Thanks so much!

I can’t help you much on the lid, but welcome to the forum!!!
I don’t think it is aluminum.
Maybe others can ID it for you... good luck!!!
Looking a little closer at it, it looks like a top to a paint can from the edges.
Even the labeling design looks like splattered or spilled paint.

Exactly what I was thinking, paint can lid. Sometimes, if one bought in quantity, the product came in a gallon can too....

Try magnet on it. I don't believe alum. would rust. looks like rust on it. Try baking soda on it. Let it soak for a while.
