Uniprobe vs Garrett Pinpointers

I have 2 of these as I didnt want to be without a Uniprobe built in the headphones. ; I got the first one back when Gary Storm was selling them and the second set was just before he sold the company. Now there is both good and bad thing, but I really did like them and both need to be sent in for repairs. One of the problems I had is the cable that on the probe itself seem to get a bad connection and make the probe false a lot after you use it a while, also you have to use a good 9 volt battery in it. When the battery gets weak it is not stable like when the battery is new, You cant use rechargeable battery as they will also be not stable as I found out. Now mine one is old and the newer one hasn't been used much so they may have change many thing since then. The newer one I got wasn't long before the probe cable had a problem and was sent back to have the cable repaired. and since about a month later it was that way again and it is setting in my shop right now. My older one I had to sent it back 2 or 3 times to have this done and it too is on the shelf to be repaired. My ear pads had to be replaced a couple of time, but they were easy to do and the cost at that time was around $4 for the set.
When I got both sets they were around $250 a set which was kind of expensive, but if you look at it you got quality headphone plus a very good probe, so it was deal. Now with Probe itself it had a lot of depth as I think it was a good 4 or more inches and in most case I could tun it on and used the probe and pinpointed right on so I could just dig a very small plug to get my coin out., So much faster finding my target and back detecting, those that were deeper I could dig the plug after I pinpointed with my detector and put the probe in the hole and knew where the target was, so coins on a angle were no problem. Another thing that is awesome is the headphone cable was replaceable so we kept a couple of extras around in our detecting supplies so we could change them right in the field if one of the wires in the cable broke, so it couldn't spoil the day for us.
Bottom line I love they uniprobe even though the probe cable seem to get a bad connection and cause it to be not very stable and plan on getting my 2 sent in to be repaired and found a home for them as because of health problems I haven't detected the last few years.

I am glad you posted about the Uniprobe as it was a nice set up and making it faster to detect,

The Uni-probe is a great tool. I have owned and used the headphone setup. Have Sold them off and now use the Pocket Uni-probe. Lot less Cumbersome. Can't go wrong with a Uni-probe setup. The Uni-probe puts most Pin pointers to shame as far as Depth goes.
Just my 2 cents on this subject. Wish you all the best here!!!

I would love a Pocket Probe myself.
