Unkown Icon and different menu

I am having trouble understaning an unknown icon in my V3i.
It is the small thing that looks like a snake and has a number one on the side. Just near the headphone icon.

The second question is why do my menu look different than the one on the DVD? This is what I have :

The one on the DVD looks like a window on the screen, it doesn't take the whole screen. And it's not the zoom since this is at my smallest zoom setting.
 
I figured it out... the one on the video didn't have the latest software... Please erase.
 
The arrow 1 is the search screen, the arrow 2 is the analysis screen.
