Unusual coin found

Not rare, but seems an unlikely coin to find in upstate NY. This from an old lot that once had a small home on it. Unfortunately, the foundation has been filled in, but no one has hunted here that we're aware of. Found about 5" down. I found a bit of trash in the hole and dropped the plug back in and as is my usual method I swung over the hole once more before I move on...lucky for me I did!

Nice find! And some age on it, too. Do you know the composition of it? Copper based? Or something else?

And what did it ring in at?

Congrats again,
Rich

I believe these are copper. I scorched it a bit in an aggressive vinegar and salt bath in an attempt to clean it. It had a nice, brown patina prior to my fooling with it.

I didn't record the number, but I believe it rang in around mid 80s at 12 Khz. Very clear tone. I expected a zincoln. A nice surprise.
