Unusual CW items dug

steve in so la

Well-known member
I posted this just now on a relic forum and thought some here may like to see some things I have dug in years past.
Here are some odds & ends that I dug over the years - things that are not usually found or published.

First is an old thermometer - notice the 'free' and then the 'zing' on the scale :)

Next is a compass - probably due to it's small size it was one that was worn on a lady. At that time it was popular for women to wear a long chain with all kinds of items on it (scissors, pencil, watch, etc ) around the neck, outside the clothing. They were called a 'chatelaine'. On this item you can still see the compass directions, amazing after being in the ground all that time.

Next is a hand hold that snapped onto the horse's halter in order to lead him somewhere.

Lastly, is a saddle shield. It was attached to the saddle in order to give it a number for reference. steve in so az
