Up, Up, And Away!

We have lots of flying squirrels here. They don't fly, as in having flapping wings; they have excess skin on each side of their body that connects to their front and back legs. They climb up in trees (or wherever) and will jump toward another tree (or other object) and spread their body out and those 'flaps' help them to glide through the air. While they are gliding it looks as if they are flying. I guess that's a poor attempt to explain it, but that's what happens.
