Have applications and resumes in many places. Have an interview with the funeral home on Monday. Was pretty much shot down with the No Worker Left Behind program since there isn't money there until - maybe - after July and I am on a list of many others...they pick and chose who should get the money for training. I was surprised when I learned a computer science program for criminal investigations was less expensive than a course on small engine repair. I took a correspondence course years ago for small engine repair and never cost as much as either of these 2 programs.
I did get with the Experience Works manager who was impressed with me. He wanted to get me into a St. Vincent de Paul thrift store and mentioned a Habitat for Humanity ReStore. I said I would be driving by the ReStore every day going to St. Vinny's and would take more gas to get to St. Vinny's. He called Wed. and wanted me to call the ReStore and set up an interview with the manager there. Went there today and, once all the Experience Works paperwork is completed, I'll be working at the ReStore 20 hours a week at minimum wage. I am very happy about not having to drive further and even part time is better than the no time I am working now. The Experience Works program is for people over 55 and is a federal program...the ReStore doesn't pay me - EW does so the ReStore basically gets free help.
The program is good up to between 6 and 9 months while I continue to search for full time work. Monday morning have the interview at the funeral hime and the paperwork getting done for working at the ReStore. The manager had already given me a work schedule which has to be re-done pending all the paperwork. So will have money coming in soon....and though it will bring money for bills my first thoughts is "Yea, I can tithe and help the church again.!"
Thanks for all the prayers. Still looking for full time work. I am thinking it would be good to be an Associate at a funeral home...helping (and praying for) people, making trips for pick ups and deliveries to other cities and towns...so travelling involved...and would get to ride in a Cadillac - just kidding...owned one already.
