Update on Landen.......

This was posted this mornng April 9th.
We had a day of ups and downs yesterday, April 8th. Landen showed promising progress throughout the day and gave the family, nurses and doctors a lot of hope.
His sedatives were cut in half and nutrition was increased to 10 ML an hour and his body was still processing the nutrition. His blood pressure was stabilized and brain swelling pressure was well below the high marker which is a huge win. He's showing movement in all 4 extremities and continues to cough as there continues to be fluid in his lungs. We take those all as positive signs of brain activity. He is also working to breathe on his own despite being intubated.
Because of this, the doctors were confident to remove the ICP (Intracranial pressure) valve in his head and take him for his first MRI. While the results that were interpreted by the doctor last night were not what we expected, the doctor on staff today seems to have a much more positive outlook on Landen's recovery because of all of the activity yesterday.
Each brain injury case is unique and therefore hard for any doctor to make a prognosis this early on as the brain needs time to heal.
Last night Teresa (mom) and BJ (dad) went home to be with the rest of the kids, sleep in their own beds, shower and are feeling a slight bit of encouragement today.
We are sending the MRI scans to other top Neurologists today and pushing for peer to peer consults from some of the top pediatric hospitals in the country. Please continue to pray for the family for encouragement and healing for Landen.
Again, thank you for the support, we are only able to this because of all of you. We appreciate every single donor and every single prayer because its making a difference.
With Love,
The Risner Family
