update on Mom...

After being in the hospital for 5 days after her fall, she spent a month in rehab at the nursing home. Yesterday, she finally came home. Boy, was she happy. Physically, she's actually in great shape. No blood pressure problems, heart normal; no medication at all for anything. Not bad for 92. Mentally, the dementia has taken it's toll, but we can deal with that. She's SO much stronger now. The therapist told my brother that she was great and did anything he asked her to do. (we told her that she could only go home if she did well in therapy) Before the nursing home rehab she could barely walk with a walker but yesterday she was really scooting around. Stairs were a big problem before but my brother said she basically went up the front stairs by herself. Before the fall, I almost had to carry her down the stairs. (she was very weak) We have a 24 hour caregiver for her now. She doesn't qualify for medicade because the house is still in her name (that should have been taken care of years ago but it's a long story). The first thing the new caregiver asked my mother was if she was a Christian. My mom said she was Catholic. The woman said, before we do anything, I'd like to pray. So, me, Mom and Edris held hands and she prayed an awesome prayer! I was a little apprehensive about who we might get to stay with mom, but I'm really happy about it now :) My brother and sister-in-law took care of so many things to get the house ready. New carpet, painting, cleaning. The house looks nice. What money Mom does have is going to go quickly with the cost of 24 hour care and we'll have to take a reverse mortgage to pay for continued costs... we obviously don't care about the money or the house, we just want to make sure she's properly taken care of. So, all in all, this is a praise for sure. She was in such bad shape, I really thought the end would be very soon. Now I'm thinking she'll probably out-live all of us
Thanks for the prayers!

Joe

Really good news, Joe, on her getting to come home and also for her better health in ability to walk more than she did! Cliff, my brother, was in the hospital from Monday evening until Thursday evening and he is sure glad to be home and also his cat, Princess! If he gets out of her sight, she starts yowling and gets louder and louder, when most of the time she is so quiet that you don't even know she is here!

Praise God and Thank You, Jesus, and Holy Spirit for answered prayers and for the healing that was done to Joe's mom! Amen! God Bless! Betty

That is great news brother. God is good! :)
All the time! :)
