Update on Platypus

Have not seen much about what it is.
Don't even know which detector its for or its size now a price is being considered.
On what. sorry have not followed this forum from day to day and have probably just missed something that has been discussed very much already.

Doc,
Well, the weather has warmed up and I've gotten out a good bit with the new coil. Here are a few comments . . . . . I'll send you more detailed feedback this weekend.
<STRONG>WEIGHT & BALANCE:</STRONG>
Well balanced and the weight seems less than the stock coil - typical Coiltek quality.
<STRONG>STABILITY:</STRONG>
Very little falsing when the coil was bumped against sticks or rocks. Did put it into 35 F water at a nearby lake and no problems or leaks. No, I did not get my wet suit on to do any serious hunting with it.
<STRONG>ELETRCICAL INTERFERENCE:</STRONG>
Used it intentionally near transformer substations and under high voltage wires. Very quiet after using Noise Cancel.
<STRONG>IMPRESSIONS:</STRONG>
The Coil is great for getting into tight areas a round coil would not be able to reach. Detection depth seemed to be on-par with the stock 10.5" . . . . possibly a little less in some real bad ground which seemed a bit odd to me but I used the same technique I use when testing other detectors and coils; i.e., marking targets with plastic poker chips and then comparing signals with different coils / settings.
Target ID was dead on with both detectors.
The Depth Indication seemed a bit "optimistic" on the Quattro but pretty much right on with the EXII.
In iron trash-filled sites it nulled out less than the 10.5" coil which allowed for a faster sweep speed and required less re-checking areas where nulling occurred on the round coils.
<STRONG>==================================</STRONG>
If anyone has any other specific questions, feel free to let me know . . . .
