Update on the IH I found...

Here's the original post of the pic... All I did was soak it in some olive oil and give it a gentle "rub"

Here's the update...
Brendan and I were out together this weekend in an area where there was an old schoolhouse at one time (18th - 19th century). He found two coppers in the woods and one really cleaned up well using his hot peroxide method (1825? Matron Head). I took the IH I found and went through the procedure twice. I have to say, the results were pretty darn good! Thanks Brendan!!! Look forward to diggin' some LI coppers with you (before the ticks come )

Would you explain the hot peroxide treatment to clean coins. Will it clean both copper and silver or just copper coin? Thank you for your answers!!

Small bowl with about 1 to 2" of peroxide in it. Microwave it for around 2 minutes to get it boiling. Gently pop your copper or brass in and watch it bubble. When it stops bubbling, take a cu-tip with some peroxide on it and give it a good little brushing. Rinse and dry. I couldn't believe how well that worked.
