Update on your prayers for my playing music in church yesterday..

We got there early to do our pre-service practice...man, everything that could go wrong sure seemed to go wrong. Couldn't find a music stand to put the Q-Chord on that didn't want to stay up. Press a button and down went the stand..grrr. Couldn't seem to hit the right keys making Sherry's beautiful keyboard playing sound bad. The 3 of us who did show up to sing...Casey, myself and another brother...well, we all sounded our worst ever.

We had a prayer session afterwards as usual. Several times when people weren't coming to talk to me I was asking God to make this all come together for His glory. I was certainly worried things would go very very wrong.

I mentioned it to one of the brothers there and he reminded me that 'you're singing and playing for Christians so if ya mess up we will forgive you'. Not exactly the encouragement I was looking for. Just want to disappear...at least til services were over but I stayed. We sang a couple songs, I lead a prayer, the others sang a song as Sherry and I played our instruments and then there was the service and then we went back up for the last song.

Dispite missing a couple notes....everything went EXCELLENT! The singing was probably the best we had ever done, Sherry is ALWAYS great on the keyboard (and she introduced other instruments - tamborines, moracas, etc. into our praise team service that had never been done before) and the Q-Chord was impressive as well.

God answers prayer! The devil of course had to try as hard as possible to get us all thinking we were wasting our time and going to be embarrassed beyond belief so we would not give praise to God. God wins!

Thanks for your prayers....they helped alot.

God is good! All the time!

..Can be humbling, let me tell ya...Im doing that Tim Mcgraw song this Sunday"Lay Me Down" for Veterans' Day...I am fanatic about having my guitar in prefect tune when I sing in front of people-If its off a little bit, most people sitting out there probably dont even notice-but I sure do....

guess as long as the music is a sweet sound in their ears it is ok...they just aren't into the sounds of someone stepping on a cat's tail so anything less than that is good to them

Ever see the movie 'The Legend of 1900'?

About a child born on a luxury ship on the first day of 1900 and left on the ship. The crew raises the child and he is a piano genius. Just to watch it for the musical content is worth having to listen to some of the foul language. The child teaches himself the piano and plays for all the people on the ship. He never leaves the ship. One time he tries to leave the ship he gets down about halfway on the gang plant and he looks at New York City. He stands on the gang plant for awhile just looking at how sprawled out the city is and he goes back onto the ship and never leaves it.

His logic told him that with 88 keys he could make beautiful music. The city looked like and endless piano keyboard. He said it would be like playing God's piano...he could not play it because there was no beginning or end to it.

I guess that is why God even loves the singing of those who to us are out of tune...to Him that sound is within the range of wonderful praise and is a sweet sweet sound in His ear.
