updated eTRAC II wish list

Been on the fence about buying a 3030 but finally decided i don't need waterproof or gps. Not worth the extra $1000 in my case.
But i would consider buying an updated eTRAC version even if it costs a little more than the old version.

I think Minelab is missing a good marketing opportunity here as the 3030 has options not needed by many and its detecting capabilities from what i gather don't appear to be a quantum leap over the eTRAC.

Heres some of what i'd like to see on a futuristic eTRAC II
-color hi-contrast non-glare display
-standard lithium ion battery pack
-a menu option to allow the detector to automatically go into sleep mode when ever the detector is laid down horizontal when digging. Then automatically wake up when in vertical sweep mode. Would eliminate annoying squaking while digging and extend battery life.
-a genuine Minelab inline probe accessory option
-a wireless headphone accessory option
-ability to change sensitivity settings on the fly when in QuickMask
-simpler way of programming complicated patterns, maybe a touch screen programming mode?

I'm sure there's other enhancements, just can't think of them right now.

There are many tone options on the 3030 that are very useful in trash , both iron and aluminum , that would be useful on the etrac platform as would the second generation of FBS technology--quicker is always nicer. If you're a beep and dig guy the additional discrimination would be as unnecessary as the waterproofness/gps/computer interfacing if you don't use them either. I haven't heard about enough difference in depth to be significant.

I'd rather see the 3030 stripped down to Safari type utility than an upgrading of the Etrac.

a clock would be nice
Yep, here's what i did. Cheap-only a couple bucks, easy install with double side sticky tap and its non-glare unlike the eTRAC display.

For me, the GPS option would be nice, DEFINITELY a high contrast non glare screen is a must. Lithium battery would be nice, sleep mode would be nice as well. I could go for more control in Quickmask but you can keep the wireless headphones and touchscreen. Clock... I can live without it. Don't need waterproof (submersible) but water resistant (caught out in the rain) would be a nice touch.

Above all else I would love to see a factory in-line probe option.

A screen that tilts left or right so that if faces the users instead of facing just to the right or left of the user..

A Gorilla Glass non scratch screen overlay would be nice.

As far as I'm concerned, the E-trac is the best machine Minelab makes. I've experienced 4 of their machine including the CTX. I do miss the SunRay probe and think that a Minelab inline would be a great addition.

I got an XP Deus while I'm waiting for the E-trac II to come out. Talk about light and fast!

I like all those options/upgrades for an e trac II. I also was thinking a clock would be nice, I hate pulling my cell phone out to look at it with my hands all dirty. Good idea with sticking the cheap clock on the top!

auto +or- whatever you decide. not just 1 2 or 3

Real Bluetooth wireless. No headphone cables to plug into wireless box that only has a 6 month warranty like the CTX.

I would loe the upgradable firmware option. I really would like to be able to label the patterns and modes I load into the 'trac.

E-Trac II is waterproof and click button to change from sounds into vibration would be great! I am deaf! I am sure many older loss hearing would depends on it!

All great suggestions. I would love to have built in GPS. I would use that constantly to track where I had hunted previously and where my finds were
