New member
would like to upgrade my excal 2 with the pinpointer mod and maybe a new headset.
I also have an old excal blue 1000 that needs to have some new headphones.
if anyone know of anyone that might be doing the upgrades it would be great and thanks.
I hope everyone has a great holiday and hope to talk to someone soon. bye for now.

George,

Kellyco is doing the remote PP to the Excalibur's along with the Gray Ghost Amphibians, call Barry or Dave at KellyCo in the Minelab Excalibur repair department. Great work and the prices are very good.

The only one they are not doing Yet is the coil change mode, Which I am still testing. Over 700 hours on mine and getting feed back from a few I have sent out for testing. Maybe this time

next year we can get them in on that one also...

Changed coils over 100 times since March

Abused to the limits...still working perfect

Glad to see the coil testing is coming out great, I plan on getting with you and get mine done also. The PP you installed on my excal works like a charm, best investment I ever made on my machine. John

Anyone have an approx idea of what KC is charging to do the PP and GG mods?

Don't quota me on this but I think 125.oo for the remote PP setup. Not sure on the GGA's, retail on them is 150.oo then the install price.

I think the price on the phones is close to $250. I think the PP is the button type not the switch like Joes. I agree........ the PP switch is something that just NEEDS to be on the next version of the Xcal. Get rid of the knob completely. Switching back and forth only creats more problems then they are worth. One of these days all these great changes you have made Joe will be added to a better version of the Xcal. Id like to see a smaller/lighter version with a CF straight shaft. I also agree...... Barry and Dave are just a couple of great guys willing to help by doing Mods ML wont.

Can we agree that the battery charging and monitoring is shameful for a $1500 detector? I will be mortified if that is not fixed on the next generation!

I will certainly agree with you on that. It is also a shame that Minelab would put headphones on a $1500.00 machine that are so cheap that everyone wants to get rid of them and get something that works properly and is comfortable to wear.

True George.... but ML isnt the only company putting out uncomfortable cheap phones on their water detectors. You must admit the yellows have good tone ID in the low range and you can count on them being water proof to dive with. Their main problem is wires breaking in the cable. I believe at the time the 1000 mah was an upgrade..... thats been several years ago. Id like to see a Litho.... but right now i dont think you can beat a Maxxpack and their charger. Fairly cheap upgrade and charges in about an hour with a light. You have to remember NOT to use that charger on the old 750 mah batteries.
