Upper shaft on ORX difficut to slide in and out

The upper shaft(where the remote mounting clip is attached) on my ORX is really difficult to slide in and out. The paint has been worn off on the side where it is making contact with something inside the tube. I took the mounting clip off and removed the shaft so that I could clean the inside of the tube. It did help a bit, but it still doesn't really slide as freely as it should. Are any of you having the same issue and if so, have you found a solution? Thanks

Mine only catches a little where the small screws attach the mount for the remote. In Andy's book he suggest waxing the bottom of the coil and shafts with armour all car wax. Maybe you could try that on your shaft.

On my Deus I removed the end cap which holds the remote control and then you can completely slide the shaft out and clean any debris on the inside. One screw to remove very easy and quick. If you see dirt or grit remember to clean the shaft before collapsing it.

And maybe when the shafts are clean then use dry lube (silicone).

Mine is very smooth, although it is rather new. After being sure is clean, i like to put
baby powder on the sliding surfaces. The dry lube sounds good too. I do know that
the cam lock handles have to be straight up for the shafts to insert smoothly.

My Deus shaft up top is white.... Paint wore off with all the use.

My Deus shaft was not sliding very smoothly. Upon examination I could see it had a couple of small nicks in it. A small file took care of that in 2 seconds. Slides much better now.

If you are seeing grooves, scratch marks along the length of the upper shaft, it takes about five minutes to remove the end cap (one screw) and clean out the area around the cam locks on the inside. I see why they sell those mud sleeves, but you don't really need them, it's easy to just bring a cloth with you and clean the debris before collapsing the shaft. Extreme mud, wait until you get home and wash it off first. Once the grit gets in there it is not going to come out on it's own.

I removed the upper rod once again and filed the inside of the tube with a round file and now the rod slides in and out very smoothly.
