upper stem explorer II question

Eric

New member
I have the explorer xs and I bought it with the expl. II upper stem on it. Its is not really a tight combination as I have to adjust it every 10 minutes. I read that this stem has the 45 angle and the older xs version did not have it. If I would cut a few inches off, would that help?

Thanks, Eric.

Hi Eric
I use the the upper stem with the angle on my XS and it locks pretty solid, just make sure you push the stem firmly
home and that the cam on the stem is to the rear.I would not cut the stem but if it is a sloppy fit you could always
wrap a couple of turns of sticky electrical tape below the angle and see if that improves things.
Good Luck.

I don't have the XS but I do have the II and the SE. I've had just a dab of trouble with the shafts being loose now and again. What I've done is cut some small shims from a gallon milk jug and slide one under the cam lock and one on the other side opposite the cam lock. This takes up the "slack so to speak" and firms the shaft up quite well. You can also do this with the lower rod as well. Give it a try, you may be surprised!!!

Hi followed up some tips and it works. I also have the lock on the downside now. I can't wait to receive the 8x6 SEF this week, as this will help to get some weight of the stem.

Thanks, Eric.

Eric I suspect that you put your upper shaft in wrong side-longer cutting side should go opposite from control panel, because from control panel in place there shaft stops is coil wires. this improvement is minimum but its make construction a bit stronger, but can be- like others forum members say, check and improve. good luck
