USA items

These two objects, found in Australia, came from a friend and he would like to know what the round object might be. It was found in the gold fields of Victoria which would possibly date it from 1860's. The size is about 29mm diameter.
Can any one date the shaving stick surround. This was not found in the area of the other find and looks to be made of copper.

The other item, possibly a saw medallion?

No problem, John! Say, how is the weather in the colonies? Our turn for some nice weather now. :D

Here's an example of a saw medallion. Kinda similar, eh, though I couldn't find a match for yours. From the pic, the best I can make out for a name is Wellar & Tauss but I can't find a match for that anywhere...

Say, I wonder if "Warr an' Ted Superior" were brothers? ;) :D

Thanks Steve, At the moment your guess is the best lead I have. The weather is not too bad, the occasional spell of wet cold stuff but the main problem is it gets darker sooner, I still get enough detecting time between having to work though.
