Early this AM I took these pics and decided if the temperature got in the 30s I was going water hunting.

There is a barge in tow along the Long Island channel in the background behind the "Tide Rock".

The water was smooth as glass when the air settled down.

Later a gentle breeze picked up out of the south, but it was still great to get out for a couple of hours.

I got 4-quarters, 2-nickles, 1-dime, and 1-penny, a couple of bottle caps, a couple of small brass pieces of hardware. some steel wire as thin as a needle, 1-small brass ring that had been plated and 1-silver ring.

A couple or three pieces of aluminum rounded out the take and with the sun sunk in the west I hauled my carcass back to the truck and home.

I keep forgetting to mention about how at certain times of day this is the main flyway for commuter craft along the shoreline, plus Amtrac has a very active track about a quarter mile away and that really plays the devil with the PI detectors signals.

Everything considered I done good Gang!!

I didn't have much time to hunt so I climbed into my waders w/multi layers of warm cloths.

At one point I found mysel perspiring (When I was trying to get into the waders with all those cloths on!!)

Once in the water though I was comfortable enough.

Hunting at the end of a work day that started before sun-up exhausted the old guy though!!

I enjoyed getting out, but thought I would have to call for help getting my gear and my carcass back to the van!!

I'm looking forward to longer days and getting my digging arm back in shape along with the rest of me!

I'm waiting for my new water-proof gloves (back ordered!) to arrive before I use the dry suit again.

Good to hear from you Friend,

CJ

I did a quick re-count a few minutes ago and found that I had miscalculated yesterdays finds!

There are 4-quarters (1-is a 1951 silver), 4-nickles, 2-dimes and 4-pennies along with the usual scrap metal (bottle caps etc.).

One interesting find is the bullet of what appears to be .45 caliber.

It has an indented base which I have not ever seen in a round nosed bullet before except in old black powder bullets.

I have found lots of bullets while water hunting this beach and the only explanation I could come up with is off season target practicing many years ago.

That wouldn't be allowed today.

GL&HH Friends,

CJ

NIce hunt CJ, glad the weather is co/oping for you, thanks for sharing...........Joe

Congratulations on the silver quarter! Been a while since I found one of those. Too bad you weren't rewarded with some gold for braving the elements.

Thanks for your replies Friends!!

It was terrific to be out there again.

It was only a few weeks since I had been out, but it seemed like forever!

Today looks like a good possibility too.

Have a great one,

CJ
