:usaflag:The building that I hunted the front of this evening used to be a creamery back in the 'ol days. Guessing that it's at least 60 years old. The owner uses it as a garage for welding etc..

Anyways...the front was screaming pennies....almost all memorials from the 60's to the early 80's. Did manage to find two wheats in one hole...late 50's. The only other signal I got besides pennies was the half-dollar. I knew it was either that or a rusty nail. Got lucky with a '74 ..

I actually have a video of todays hunt but Youtube won't let me sign-in for some reason. Pictures will have to do for now.
 
Good show McDave. Can't imagine being put outta business by Old Man Winter. Must be a real bummer having to hang it up til it thaws.
 
Really nice McDave. Those halves are really cool to see them roll out of a clump of dirt. When one falls out I believe that my eyes get about that suze. Congratulations and good work.

So what do you have planned to pass the time after the ground is frozen solid?

Well, I just bought a rock tumbler online so I can clean my clad coins. Should have that by the end of this week. So that will kill some time. I will also be researching for a new detector. I already have a general idea of what I would like but it's more a matter of how much I want to spend. Or how much my wife lets me spend...lol. And besides that, I buy and collect coins on the side, so weekly packages from the post office will help me forget that I live in the Arctic Circle for 5 months out of the year. And of course, I will be researching new hunting sites for 2011...it'll be spring again before I know it.

And in case anyone was wondering. Today's hunt netted 63 coins in two hours. 60 pennies, 2 dimes, and 1 half-dollar. I will probably go back and dig just as many more pennies so I can get to the good stuff. There has to be ONE silver coin sitting there somewhere.
 
Yeah, winter is going to be a bummer. Doing research is a good idea, and I'm thinking of sending my better coin finds away to be graded.
 
:usaflag:Yes...and we are already seeing overnight temperatures in the mid-twenties...yuck ! Hope we get at least one more warm spell before winter settles in.
 
I find more pennies than anybody, but like someone said: digging pennies is experience for silver and other clad. WTG on the half dollar and the other coins. That would really make my day.
