I went out and tried my detecting skills without my favorite accessory...which is on it's way to Texas to be re-born. Only got out for about an hour but found a buck or so in clad and this extra-large Chrysler Tootsie Toy about 8 inches down. I've found a couple of matchbox sized varieties but nothing like this. The axles are broken but otherwise completely intact. Good times.

Edit: The Merc's are there just for size comparison...and maybe to add a little time warp to the picture. And just for the record I've only dug one Merc since I started detecting. Those E Bay dimes are part of my ever-growing silver hoard.

Love those old toys, but for me, I'm reluctant to go hunt without a pin pointer, I guess the larger targets are ok and the near surface. oj

never used one. but if you get good enough pinpointing. you really don't need one i guess. but sometimes i think i might like to try one out
